Sms Control Panel

The Sms Control Panel refers to a Windows program that allows the users to write text messages to be sent from their computer.
You can download it from the link below. Once it is installed on your PC, you do not need to download it from the Internet any longer, just run it directly from the download folder. For security issues, your Internet browser may probably warn you that you have never used the program that you are downloading, that it may be dangerous, etc. and therefore you have to confirm if you want to continue the download or installation. You perfectly know this program, so you can give your consent without any problem.
Sms Control Panel is an App currently unregistered and the Windows latest versions make it increasingly difficult to download unregistered App. Not immediately accept the proposed OK otherwise you exit without executing the download. Always ask for more information. If, however, you are unable to perform the download you can always ask, via email, the zipped version of Control Panel.

How to use

Control Panel

Register your Account for Free

The first thing that you have to do in order to send text messages from your PC is the registration to SMS Gateway. To do this, just click on Register on the upper right corner of the Control Panel. You will then be asked to enter your UserName, Password and e-mail address. Both your UserName and e-mail address must be unique, not yet used in the SMS Gateway database. After entering the data accepted by the system, you will be asked to check your e-mail address to complete the registration. This proves that you have made no mistakes in writing your e-mail address and you can safely send any message. Once the registration is complete, you can login and start sending text messages from your PC (after installing Sms Gateway App in your Android device).

Single Sending

This sending process corresponds to the one performed with the mobile phone by manually entering the telephone number instead of using the phone book. In our case, the telephone number can also be entered using the copy and paste commands, which are decidedly more comfortable on the computer rather than on the mobile phone. The maximum length allowed for the text messages is 1,000 characters. It should be noted that the traditional length of a text message is 160 characters, therefore your mobile phone operator considers a longer text message as a multiple message. However, if your mobile phone contract includes an "unlimited text messages" plan, there is definitely no problem. Once you have entered the text of the message and the recipient's telephone number, you just have to click the "Send" button: the data will be sent to a Server and the latter sends them to your mobile phone which in turn will finally transmit the relating message.

Multiple Sending

The multiple sending process, namely the sending of a text message to several numbers. To send message to multiple numbers, you must import an address Book. This can be achieved by pressing the "New PhoneBook".

New PhoneBook

The "New PhoneBook" button allows a new PhoneBook file to be imported in the Control Panel.
Any contacts already imported in the Control Panel are deleted. Only those contained in last file are shown. However, it is possible to add a new PhoneBook file by means of the "Add PhoneBook" button.
Nonetheless, it should be borne in mind that any telephone numbers already present in the first file, although present also in the file to be added, are not imported in the Control Panel.
Finally, as far as the import of files is concerned, it is important to stress that the table of the Control Panel can include up to 10,000 contacts, since higher values are difficult to handle. Therefore it is recommended to create PhoneBooks including a maximum of 10,000 contacts, otherwise they cannot be uploaded in the Control Panel.
For example, if you have to send text messages to 30,000 contacts, the contacts of each file are sent to the server at a time without any problem, because the server does not feature these capacity limits. Obviously, all the contacts can be sent to the server one after the other without waiting for the previous text messages to be sent.
Once imported the data, you can send a text message to all the data selected with the "Send to selected" button. Contacts can be either selected or deselected individually by clicking on the line of each contact. To select all the contacts imported, you can use the "Select All" button. Conversely, to remove the selection from all the contacts, just click on the "Remove Selection" button.

PhoneBook files

The files that can be imported as PhoneBook are text files and CSV files

CSV Files

As Wikipedia says: "A comma-separated values (CSV) file stores tabular data (numbers and text) in plain-text form. Plain text means that the file is a sequence of characters, with no data that has to be interpreted as binary numbers. A CSV file consists of any number of records, separated by line breaks of some kind; each record consists of fields, separated by some other character or string, most commonly a literal comma or tab. Usually, all records have an identical sequence of fields."
For example:

Name Telephone Number Address City
Alan 3286457382 Via Po, 15 Rome
Bob 3284536782 Via Piave, 20 Florence
Mary 3208965864 Via Tevere, 1 Bologna
John 3897564732 Via Arno,8 Turin

The example above can be represented in the CSV format as follows:

Name, Telephone Number, Address, City
Alan , 3286457382, "Via Po, 15", Rome
Bob, 3284536782, "Via Piave, 20", Florence
Mary, 3208965864, "Via Tevere, 1", Bologna
John, 3897564732, "Via Arno,8", Turin

It should be noted that the field separator character is a comma ("," and if this character is reported in the content of a field, the latter must be enclosed in double quotes. Actually, commas are used as field separator characters only in the English-speaking world, while romance-speaking countries tend to prefer semicolons ";". This is because commas are used as decimal separator in this case.
As CSV files are normal text files, you can edit them with any kind of text editor like WordPad, notepad, etc. You can delete or add a line, copy and paste, etc.. However, the most suitable application is Microsoft Excel, which allows the users to upload these files as tables and edit them as required (delete lines or columns, add lines, etc.) and then re-save them in the CSV format. Microsoft Excel also enables the users to upload data tables, save them as CSV files and then import them in the Control Panel (Save as -> Other formats, then choose the CSV file format in the "Save as" option). The CSV files used in SMS Gateway can also have several fields, but we only focus on those containing the contact Name and Telephone Number.
Actually, the only field required for transmitting text messages is Telephone Number, while the name field can be useful only if the imported CSV file is used as a Phone Book in which it is possible to select the message recipient. Conversely, if you want to send text messages to all the contacts of the imported CSV file, you do not need to know the owners of each single number. In any case, when you import a CSV file, the Control Panel asks you to determine the Name and Phone Address fields. If the Name field is lacking, you can indicate any other field in place of it, even the Phone Address field. It should be noted that the header line including the field names is not mandatory for CSV files. If it is lacking, you can determine the Name and the Phone Address fields based on the content.
Now let's see how to import a CSV file in the Control Panel.
By pushing the "New PhoneBook" button, a window automatically opens and allows you to choose the CSV file to be imported. A folder automatically opens, which is always the last selected one, so if you put all your CSV files into a single folder and then push the "New PhoneBook" button, you can comfortably select the file to be imported.
Once selected the file to be imported, another window opens in which you have to determine the Phone Address and Name field. After the confirmation, the CSV file is uploaded in the Control Panel and its data are shown in a table. Once imported the data, you can send a text message to all the data selected with the "Send to selected" button.
The Phone Book of your mobile phone is displayed directly in the Control Panel, without rewriting any single contact, thanks to CSV files. The CSV (Comma Separated Values) file format is widely used for importing and exporting data tables in spreadsheets and databases. The Google App Store offers several free Apps that allow customers to send the phone book of their mobile phone to their computers in the form of CSV files. These apps are generally very user-friendly. Actually, you just need to enter the e-mail address to which the contact list of your mobile phone has to be sent and you will receive it there as a CSV file attached. Then, you have to import this CSV file in your Control Panel, and the Phone Book of your mobile phone will be displayed on your PC. In order to perform this operation, you can use whatever App you like. We have used the "EXPORT" by Aurelien Texier App which seemed quite efficient: you just have to enter the e-mail address and there you will receive the Contacts.csv file as an attachment containing the phone book of your mobile phone. One of the advantages resulting from the use of CSV files is that they are a widespread standard format, which allows the customers to import in their Control Panel the phone book of their mobile phone, as well as large databases containing telephone numbers saved as CSV files from various spreadsheets or other databases.

Text files

This option is easier. It proposes a TextBox where you must enter mobile phone numbers followed by the Enter key. Alternatively, you can run the Copy and Paste from a text file or from a column of Excel telephone numbers

Delayed Sms

After having clicked for sending sms, you are prompted for confirmation that in a separate window. In this window you can enable sending of Delayed SMS and set the date and time of transmission.

Manage Sms ==> View Blocked Sms

Unfortunately, some text messages sent to the message Server may not be actually sent to the recipient.
This can happen for two main reasons:
a) The telephone number of the message recipient is wrong, therefore it is interpreted as an invalid number by the software of your mobile phone operator;
b) your mobile phone is not allowed to send text messages (e.g. your SIM card is not activated, the phone has some hardware problems, etc.).
Anyhow, our platform makes three sending attempts before giving up transmitting a message. This is because if you are sending several text messages with different mobile phones, a message not sent from a single mobile phone can be sent from another one instead. (A mobile phone may not transmit a text message because it has hardware problems, the SIM has expired, you have run out of your monthly text messages, etc.). If you push the 'Manage Sms ==> View Blocked Sms' buttons, you can see which text messages have not been sent. You can check whether the recipient phone number was wrong or any other kind of problem has occurred, and then you can reset the sending attempts in order to try sending the message again or delete it.

Information on the Status of the text messages sent

In the lower left box of the Control Panel you can find useful information on the status of the text messages already sent. Its meaning is quite intuitive. However, let's analyse these indications one by one:
Selected contacts:
It represents the number of the contacts currently selected that will be sent to the server when you push the "Send to selected" button. In other words, it specifies the number of the messages that will be sent.
Last text message sent:
It shows the number of the contacts to whom the last group of messages has been sent.
Text messages rejected by the server:
Shows how many text messages were not sent because of the fact that the number was not considered valid. They can be seen by clicking "Manage Sms"
Text messages being sent:
It refers to the number of the contacts transmitted from the server to your mobile phone and being sent. (If the text messages to be sent are numerous, you can simultaneously use different mobile phones.)
Text Messages to be processed:
It displays the number of the contacts which have not been sent yet from the server to your mobile phone for sending operations. In other words, here you can check the sending progress of your text messages.
These data are updated every thirty seconds. If you want to know the exact sending status, just push the "Refresh" button.

Available Text Messages

This box shows the text messages available for multiple sending, as those sent individually, also through the selection of the contact in the table of the CSV file, are free and can always be sent, even when the available text messages are equal to 0. Conversely, if you want to use SMS Gateway for professional purposes and transmit hundreds or thousands of text messages at a time for information/advertising campaigns, there is a cost to pay for the use of the server. You can buy multiple text messages using the "Buy" button.
